Olmo Fattorini is an Italian photographer currently based in Bergamo, Italy.
He had a serene childhood, a time when his family gave him his first experiences of community, simplicity and unity.
Driven by an innate curiosity to embrace the diverse realities of the world, he left for Australia, wanting to learn English, gain work and travel experience. While there, he developed the passion for photography and realized its potential to tell stories, provoke reflection, and evoke memories over time.
In 2014, Olmo undertook a solo journey home, traveling 31,500 kilometers overland from Bangkok to Bergamo. Along the way Olmo had opportunities for profound human connections. It increased his trust in others and confidence in himself. Once back in Europe, he worked as a race mechanic on the circuits of the World Motocross Championship, fulfilling another dream. In 2017, he headed to Nepal, where he had the opportunity to visit the Tibetan communities living in the Himalayan range. He continued south to India on a motorcycle observing, in all its contrasts, the varied rhythms and behaviours of the people living the Subcontinent. From this journey was born "Betting on The Future", a work that wants to show how the lives of people, especially kids, are impacted by the environmental pollution.
The constant research, brought Olmo to Toronto in 2018 with the goal of work and plan a journey overland through the Americas, from North to South. At first, Toronto was a cultural shock, quite different from his expectations, especially coming from the East.
He noticed enormous distances, silence and more formal human relationships; yet Olmo’s curious spirit was captured by the reality of multiculturalism. After a few months, he changed his plans. He enrolled at Seneca College Photography Program where he assisted the corporate photographer Lorne Wolk and, the award winning photojournalist Giovanni Capriotti.
In 2020 Olmo travels back to Italy to develop "At the End is the Man", a photo project that documents the conditions of African refugees at Patronato San Vincenzo in Bergamo. In 2021 he earned the degree in photography and started to work in the industry, a profession he continues to pursue today.
Before leaving Toronto, Olmo produced "Italians on the Move" , a series of environmental portraits followed by each individual experience based on the young Italians who moved to Toronto within the last decade.
Olmo's photographic work documents moments of our time, focusing on the people, its lifestyle, cultures and traditions, as well as its environment. Olmo is available for commissioned work and collaborations.
